On Saturday I visited M and her family. Such a sweet family with an even sweeter baby! I really enjoyed this session it was lovely to meet them all, baby E’s grandparents were visiting they wanted to capture the memories of their visit to the UK to see their newest Grandson.

This picture represents a special day in the Whelan household. A life skill was learned (in about 5 minutes!!) and two parents felt the overwhelming feelings of proudness seeing their boy ride off in the park on his own without the help of stabilisers. Finn has always been agile, he got his balance bike when he was 18 months old and it was his dearest companion. He got his first proper big boys bike for his 4th birthday. He decided that he wanted to keep the stabilisers on for a while, we knew he didn’t need them but we also knew that he needed to learn this for himself. So after a couple of trips out on his bike with the stabilisers we convinced him to have a go without them. Cue “I can’t do it” after about 10 seconds. After a bit of coaxing we got him to get back on and we held the back of the seat. “Don’t let go” he said while checking my hands were still on the seat. “I won’t I promise” . Daddy took over for a while and he was gaining more confidence. We stopped for a little break and our attention was on his younger brother who was trying to climb a fence! While we were not looking (we so were out of the corner of our eyes!) he picked his bike up and got a feel for the pedals and before we knew it was off! That feeling is AMAZING! seeing him learn a new skill, one that will stay with him for life, is so good. Seeing the look of achievement on his little face is what it’s all about. Better than any feeling of personal achievement could bring. There has been no stopping him, it’s like he’s been riding for years!

The boy loves posing up against a wall. I love a scruffy wall. Win win situation! This is taken on the way back from the school run, we walked most of the way back, bless him, he picked me flowers (daisies) and helped me to push the buggy. He is now fast asleep after all his hard work and adventures.

After a bit of a break and spruce up of the blog, I am back! I have decided to post 365 photos on this blog before the year is out but not necessarily every day! I know, cop out but I am so busy lately I just don’t have the time!
These pictures are from a little session I had with my son today. I bribed him with treats of course! (I love that he is getting old enough to bribe!) He would much prefer to be behind the camera though so I have to be quick. I love these as they are very natural and very him. I have jelly babies on top of my camera and they were having a conversation with him while I snapped away. (multi-tasking at it’s best!)

This is my son, he’s still my baby even though he’s 2 in June. He’s very fast so getting a decent natural shot of him proves to be difficult at the best of times. I love these he looks so pretty in them. I know boys are not usually described as pretty but I think this is the only word for him in these pictures.
